CZECHOSLOVAK GROUP (CSG) has acquired Ifield Computer Consultancy (ICC) which develops air traffic control and management systems. CSG bought the company, renamed ATRAK, from ICC Ltd. (part of the LAIC Group). The acquisition cost is worth lower hundreds of millions of crowns. ATRAK will join the CSG Aerospace division, and will work closely with CS Soft, another successful member of the holding.

CSG Aerospace acquired 100 percent of ICC directly from its Czech-British owner and founder George Parobek. The acquisition will strengthen CSG Aerospace's ability to deliver comprehensive modular solutions for air traffic control systems (ATM systems). Both CS Soft and ICC / ATRAK are already key strategic and business partners of the Air Navigation Services of the Czech Republic and are based in the premises of the Václav Havel Airport in Prague.

“With the acquisition of ATRAK, we have yet another company, besides CS Soft, specialized in the field of air traffic control systems development. We will be technologically advanced enough to develop and deliver the comprehensive ATM systems solutions for their key global suppliers,” Michal Strnad, owner of the CZECHOSLOVAK GROUP, remarked. The gain of a high-tech IDP data processing module that also integrates information on weather, and the location and positions of aircrafts, is especially valuable for CSG, he added.

“Since CS Soft and ATRAK are strategic suppliers for the Air Navigation Services of the Czech Republic, we are convinced that having both high-tech companies under one umbrella will be a major advantage for this key customer especially in the ability to precisely respond to his requirements ,” Aleš Klepek, CSG Aerospace director remarked.

George Parobek, ATRAK´s previous owner, will remain a consultant in a firm that currently employs about 45 programmers and developers. "Selling ATRAK to CSG has been a good decision that will allow for strategic development of my well-established, medium-sized company even in the competition of key international players in the ATM systems market," said Parobek.

In 2018, ICC´s revenues reached almost CZK 232 million with operating profit of CZK 13.2 million.

Both George Parobek and his company have been interesting partners for CSG. In the late 1970s, the seventeen-year-old Parobek fled to Great Britain to escape the communist regime in his native country. Together with his Dad, he had built a yacht, and later, he sailed on it from the former Yugoslavia to the west. George and his father settled in the UK, where he studied IT, mathematics and physics. Gradually, George became an IT developer and system designer. Over time he founded his own company and after 1989 he started his business in the Czech Republic. Recently, he decided to sell the company because he did not have his own successor.

“I am glad that CSG can show once again that it can develop the potential of the companies built from scratch with the help of Czech and Slovak clever heads and golden hands,” Michal Strnad said.
